NASA has confirmed the existence of liquid water on the surface of Mars, according to new research announced on Monday. Despite its reputation as a forebodingly dusty, and lifeless place, Mars seems to be a little bit wet even today . Streaks that paint the Martian surface dark are the work of salty liquid water, according to NASA. “That’s a direct detection of water in the form of hydration of salts,” Dr. McEwen, a professor of planetary geology at the University of Arizona said. Still, many mysteries remain. For one, scientists do not know where the water is coming from.
